How long have you been with Hodes?

Less than a year

What’s a typical day like for you?

It always begins with coffee. I like to get going on development asap, so I will usually get emails and phone calls out of the way. If I am in the middle of multiple projects, I will try to get the small ones done with so I can concentrate on the more complicated ones (all depending on due dates of course).

When I’m tackling an interesting idea or feature, I like to take some time and research similar examples. I learn a lot from reading and posting on forums and blogs related to the web development technologies I use. A lot of talented people out there share fantastic open source code that help me work more efficiently and faster. I find it very inspirational to see how others are manipulating the technology I use, and this helps me bring new and creative ideas to the table.

Throughout the day I consult with the creative team, account directors and project managers so that everyone is kept up to date on the latest developments and so new ideas can be quickly introduced as the project progresses.

What path led you to Hodes and your current role?

When it comes to development of web-based or offline applications, my interests have always been split. On one hand I enjoy the creative process of brainstorming an idea and mapping out the flow of the user experience. On the flip side I like taking that idea and bringing it into reality, from deciding which tools to use to programming.

To create something from nothing, and to be involved in that process from idea to fruition is what brought me to Hodes. In the past I had always been involved heavily in one or the other, but here I am given the opportunity to see a project from all angles.

What surprised you most about working at Hodes?

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I enjoy riding my motorcycle & hiking when it’s nice out, as well as traveling when I find the time... but I’m a big fan of sitting on my couch watching movies or playing video games as well. I’m also an avid runner and professional eater.
